Nowadays, many users go for illegal downloads for a simple reason of saving money which has led to huge losses to the companies. But still, there are some websites that give free downloads legally of many softwares. This includes freewares, sharewares and trial softwares. Here are the Top 5 according to iTechYou.com.

1-> TuCows : TuCows has a very good reputation as a website for free downloads. It started at the time when it hardly had any competition and still is one of the best websites. Do check out their featured softwares which include the best freewares/sharewares. Might be outdated, but still one of the best.

2-> Download : Here, the name says it all. Since it has a to the point name, it gets a good traffic through Google. As it features great reviews from the editors and the members, it is one of my favourites in this niche.  It includes everything from kids games to mobile antiviruses and screensavers.

Their reviews are non-biased and awesome. Even if I don’t use the software, I do visit their sites to read the reviews and keep myself updated.

FileHippo : My favourite, one of the best. This website has a sort of a tabular columns where anyone who visits it can see the latest updated softwares and the most popular ones. Also, there are about 3-5 softwares in each category according to latest updates. I generally download beta versions from here. Great interface, a must visit website

Nowadays, the most used site for downloading and uploading is Rapidshare and Megaupload follows next. But these guys have a huge price for a premium account which some people cannot afford.
